Picture parade fifty-five.

This takes some beating!

Many of you will know that Elizabeth, my mother from North-West London, is staying with us for a short while.  Last Friday, it was decided to drive the 20 miles to the North and along Speaker Road into BLM land and thence up to Secesh Reservoir.  This beautiful spot was previously written about in June when we first went to find Secesh.  It seemed a perfect spot to take my mother.

What neither Jean nor I had anticipated was that my mother was determined to swim in Secesh; the remote reservoir is at an altitude of 2,870 feet.

Oh, nearly forgot to mention that Elizabeth was born in 1919! That’s 94, by the way!

As I said in the sub-title, this takes some beating!

    1. Now we learn there is local ‘beach’ on the Rogue River nearby and, yes, Mum has ambitions of swimming in the river! Guess we should be thankful that the drought means the river’s flow is much gentler than normal!

  1. How inspiring:). So inspiring. It sounds like a wonderful time. I was fortunate to attend the Ironman World Triathlon Championships in Kona a few times. It is an amazing feat for anyone, but even more so when you see those competing in their 70’s and 80’s. Your mother-in-law is a lovely woman – enjoy your visit. I bet the children are enjoying her as well:)

    1. Thanks ever so much for your response. Just a small correction in that Elizabeth is my mother and Jean’s mother-in-law. Mum is more of a cat person, when growing up we had Siamese cats, but she is quietly taking a liking to puppy Oliver.

    1. Sue, drop in next Sunday to see Mum taking a dip in our nearby Rogue River! I’ll make sure she sees your comment because it will please her immensely; as with the others! Big hugs!
