Picture Parade Five Hundred and Twenty-Six

A few, difficult shots of two deer taken yesterday.

These two, a male and a female, were resting close to the back deck. I had to be extremely careful in taking these five photographs.

As I have said many times before, I feed the deer every morning. They know, I’m sure, that they are loved by us. Two or three of them are waiting for their feed practically every morning. As soon as I go into the stables, to get the feed, more deer arrive and, typically, I put out the feed for between five and nine deer.

Perfect!

  1. Wow! I was happy to see a lone deer pass by my window this week. I always wondered what you could feed them. They have lost their natural path through thoughtless construction. The Elk are having a hard time as well. I love that you get to see them regularly.

    1. Marlene, I feed them COB, which is an acronym for mixture of corn, oats and barley. One of my very regular feeders is a young elk with only one horn growing from the right side of his head. He frequently gets bossed around by the other deer, both genders, so they pick up on something strange about this elk.

      1. Every creature wants to fit in and belong. I guess that’s why I’m extra sensitive to animals that have to stay on the fringe of the herds. Sad but it happens.
