More down to earth!

Further information on the subject of being grounded.

Just to set the scene, so to speak, last Saturday week I published a post on our reaction to the book called Earthing authored by Ober, Sinatra and Zucker. I said that we had been sufficiently convinced to order the half-sheet kit.  Then on the 23rd., I wrote of our experiences after having spent 5 nights on the earthing sheet.

I promised to provide more information today. We have now been sleeping on the earthing sheet for eight nights.  All the positive effects written about on Monday continue and, frankly, strengthen.

The website has much information, including real-life experiences from customers.  That website suggests it is the work of Martin Zucker, one of the authors of the book.  It also offers this testimonial video:

There is another website that offers much the same information as the GoingBarefoot site.  (Indeed, I just called the Earthing company and they confirmed that there was no difference in service between the two websites.)

One of the items in the kit, as shown in the photograph, was a 74-minute, professionally-made film that was fascinating.  Guess what!  That film is available as a YouTube video.

The film was the product of Kroschel Films and their website is wonderful.  You must go there. These two pictures came from there.

Then a web search brought to light a company with the name of Mercola.  Their website has a page with earthing products even including, towards the end of the webpage, instructions on making your own earthing mat.  The following video comes from that website.

So I do hope this is of interest and, please, if you have any thoughts or experiences, do please offer them as comments to the post.

There is a road in the hearts of all of us, hidden and seldom traveled, which leads to an unknown, secret place.

The old people came literally to love the soil, and they sat or reclined on the ground with a feeling of being close to a mothering power. Their teepees were built upon the earth and their altars were made of earth. The soul was soothing, strengthening, cleansing, and healing.

That is why the old Indian still sits upon the earth instead of propping himself up and away from its life giving forces. For him, to sit or lie upon the ground is to be able to think more deeply and to feel more keenly.

He can see more clearly into the mysteries of life and come closer in kinship to other lives about him.

  1. I can recommend walking barefoot too 🙂 … Trees are good grounding too Paul.. I am having problems with the Web browser this morning Paul, your pictures are not loading to view… I can see the Wolf and the Lynx and Standing Bear and the top picture of the Earth Kit…. I browsed through some of my own posts and it seems some of my web link photos have the same problem today…

    May you both continue to feel connected and earthed 🙂 and experience the benefits it brings.. Night Cramps are not nice… I speak from experience..


      1. Not with the mattress thing no Paul, I ground myself enough in Nature I think… I spent far too many years inside busy windowless factories with noisy Machines, So my crystals in my home and being in Nature helps, and I am always talking to the trees 🙂 LOL.. :-D…


      2. Just make a mental note that if you find unexplained aches and pains bothering you then the grounding sheet, not mattress, may be the solution. Have a great weekend.

  2. Very interesting read. Thanks very much for sharing. I am also a big fan of Dr. Mercola whose ideas I find very useful. I have begun walking bare footed while I take my breaks from riding my bike. These are five minute intervals so I don’t know if that is enough for benefits.


    1. Tony, welcome and thanks for stopping by and leaving your reply. My answer is wrapped up in the advice to watch both the videos and especially the film. One of the things that has become clear (and we are still newcomers to the concept) is that the electrical contact between feet and ground is important. Thus while dry soil and even concrete connect one to the planet, they aren’t such ready conductors as, for example, damp grass. The grounded half-sheet ensures one has sufficient time to fully ground the body.

      Oh, read the Earthing book – that’s very instructive.

  3. Just spent my first night on an earthing sheet. I slept six straight hours, a very rare occurrence. Since June 28, however, I have walked barefooted on grass for at least 30 minutes a day in five minute intervals. I have experienced the following changes: Slept better. Had to get up less often to use the bathroom. I have less pain in the arthritis I have in both hands, so I feel the barefooted walks reduced the inflammation in my body. I took a spill on my bike and tore up my knee. The ‘street burn’ on my knee healed in days as opposed to a week or so. I also used emu oil and coconut oil on my knee. Thanks again for a most worthwhile post.


    1. Tony, what a fabulous thing to read on first waking up! Just hope others follow your lead. Just yesterday, I twisted my right knee when in the middle of some plumbing work. By late afternoon I could hardly walk and then only with the aid of a stick. I was fearful of not being fit this morning!

      But when I walked out with the dogs some 30 minutes ago, there was no pain or discomfort at all.

      I am of no doubt that 7 hours straight, deep sleep worked the magic. Those hours of being grounded.
