There can never be too much trust and love in the world!
As many of you know we feed the wild deer as indeed do many of our neighbours.
So with that in mind just read the following incredible and wonderful story that recently came my way thanks to Dordie from next door.

Quite a Catch
Awesome act of trust and love!
A once in the history of mankind kind of thing. The Best Day Of Fishing Ever! Some fishing stories are a little hard to believe but this guy has pictures to prove his story… I’ve heard of salmon jumping into boats, but never anything quite like this.
Tom Satre told the Sitka Gazette that he was out with a charter group on his 62-foot fishing vessel when four juvenile black-tailed deer swam directly toward his boat.
“Once the deer reached the boat, the four began to circle the boat, looking directly at us. We could tell right away that the young bucks were distressed.

“Once the deer reached the boat, the four began to circle the boat, looking directly at us. We could tell right away that the young bucks were distressed.
I opened up my back gate and we helped the typically skittish and absolutely wild animals onto the boat. In all my years fishing, I’ve never seen anything quite like it! Once on board, they collapsed with exhaustion, shivering.”
“This is a picture I took of the rescued bucks on the back of my boat, the Alaska Quest. We headed for Taku Harbour .
Once we reached the dock, the first buck that we had pulled from the water hopped onto the dock, looked back as if to say ‘thank you’ and disappeared into the forest.
After a bit of prodding and assistance, two more followed, but the smallest deer needed a little more help.
This is me carrying the little guy.
My daughter, Anna, and son, Tim, helped the last buck to its feet. We didn’t know how long they had been in the icy waters or if there had been others who did not survive.

My daughter later told me that the experience was something that she would never forget, and I suspect the deer felt the same way as well!”
I told you! Awesome!

Oh Paul what a fabulous story to click onto as I catch up with your posts today.. Such a wonderful story showing us once again what we already know, is that animals trust and know instinctively who to trust and I am so pleased the skipper of that boat knew instinctively they needed his help..
Amazing story and photos.. 🙂

So inspirational, Paul. I love reading stories like this one. It restores my faith in humanity because the news does not do that.

Yes, that is strange about the lure of bad news in the media. Psychologically it makes sense because our survival in the past was built upon being forewarned. But here in the 21st century that does seem inappropriate. Delighted you enjoyed the story albeit not at all surprised that you did! 😊

You are right, Paul. I understand forewarning but I think now the media turns everything into foreboding.

Loved reading this story Paul, it puts my faith back in human beings…..there might be hope for us yet!
I wrote a similar article (http://www.passionateboutpets.com/kangaroos-hitching-a-ride) a few years ago about a man in a small boat who picked up some kangaroos that had been swept away in flood waters here in Australia. Thank goodness there are still compassionate people around – stories like these certainly restore my faith in human nature!

Wow. I’ve only ever seen a deer (one) swim in the ocean. Coast of Maine. Came running out of the trees completely driven insane by bugs. Headec straight for the icy Atlantic and swam for all it was worth. Crazy story you posted. And so kind of the fisherman.

Fantastic story. Unbelievable. How fortunate that the boat came along and the deer were able to get on board. They were desperate and knew they had to trust. Just proves again that animals are way smarter than we think. I loved this story. Thank God for good people.
