This beggars belief!

What some people get up to!

I know (alright assume) that everyone who reads this blog is a dog lover. Indeed, millions more to add to that count who do not read the blog.

So I just do not understand how this dog came to be abandoned. As reported recently in The Dodo.

Beautiful White Puppy Left Tied To Pole Waits Days For Someone To Rescue Him

He had no food or water 😔

Alone on a cracked patch of cement, a white dog named Buckley stared up the street from where he was left tied to a pole in Santa Monica, California. For days, the gentle dog waited for someone to notice him, hoping they might take him somewhere safe.

LOVE LEO RESCUE

One day, a local rescuer passing by noticed Buckley’s big brown eyes. She couldn’t believe the 6-month-old husky puppy was alone without food or water. She knew she had to help.

Soon, Buckley was off the streets, safe in the expert hands of Love Leo Rescue.

Meeting the pup for the first time, rescuers felt moved by Buckley’s warmth and resilience.

“Buckley is an exceptional dog,” Love Leo Rescue director Sasha Abelson told The Dodo. “He is well balanced and loving and didn’t let his previous experiences change his lovely personality.”

The wayward pup eventually moved in with a foster family. Lately, he’s enjoyed spending lots of time outside with his new friends.

“Buckley is a typical, happy-go-lucky husky,” Leo said. “He loves playing with his dog friends and learning new skills. He loves going for hikes and also cuddling near his humans. He is just a perfect family dog.”

For now, Buckley is still searching for his forever home, hoping his family finds him soon.

“Buckley would love to go into a home that is active and preferably a home with another playful, balanced dog,” Leo said. “We think a dog brother or sister would be wonderful for him.”

With any luck, Buckley won’t be waiting very much longer.

Now it is just possible that a person who reads this story will want to adopt Buckley. If that is the case then visit the Love Leo Rescue website for more details.

Fingers very tightly crossed that Buckley finds his home soon!

  1. I’ve worked in rescue for over 40 years, and this is not unusual. In rescue we see the dark side of human nature way too often. I’m not surprised it was a rescuer who finally “rescued” this dog. Shelters and rescue organizations have been in crisis mode for 2 years now. Totally overwhelmed with owner surrenders. It’s really sad. But I’m thrilled this dog was finally rescued. 🩷

    1. Thank you for your reply. I met my wife, as she was to become, in Mexico in late 2007, and then Jean was rescuing stray dogs and had more than twenty dogs around her home. (Oh, and we were both born in London some twenty-six miles apart.) My blog was started in 2009.
I wish I was younger because I would love to do more.
Thank you for what you are doing!

      1. You’re very welcome!! And I’m thrilled your wife is a rescuer. How wonderful!! When you look at the enormity of the situation now with owner surrenders and dogs being abandoned/dumped and huge daily euthanasia numbers at shelters it can get really depressing. You feel like you’re not even making a dent in the situation. But that’s not true. I always tell fellow rescuers they are actually making a huge difference one dog/cat at a time. And that’s all that counts!! 🩷

      2. You are so kind. Thank you!!! Actually I checked out your page when you suggested writing an article a week or so ago. For me it’s just a matter of time and multiple deadlines. It’s a really busy time of year for me. However I love your topic suggestion!! And I would love to write a short article on that subject for your blog. I’m pretty sure I can work it inbetween some of these deadlines. Btw, this is my blog/website for my career, so what I’m saying will make more sense to you. lol!! I use my Facebook page to promote my career. But I created my WordPress page to be completely separate just to review books I have enjoyed reading since I’m always at the library or at bookstores. And that’s why I don’t use my real name on WordPress. Here’s the link to my website/blog:

      3. Ah, Laura! Now I can connect the dots! Please do not get stressed up about a guest post. I hope I will be around for a while longer (I just got back from a twenty mile bike ride!) despite my age (I shall be 80 in November). I shall go across to your blog site now. All the best!

And five minutes later after I had been across to your blog site. But I could not leave a comment because your blog noted that I was unable to leave a comment, plus I do not use Facebook. Gave it up a couple of years ago!

      4. Awesome!!! How wonderful you work out at your age!! I’m 67, vegan since high school, and love to workout too (runner). No worries about leaving a comment on my website/blog. Several years ago Blogger was inundated with hackers and spam bots filling our comment areas with whatever they were advertising. Like most people I turned the comments off. Those bots are long gone but I’m swamped answering comments every day on Facebook from readers so I just kept the comments section turned off. I love that the website is like a library in that you can click on links to read published poems and stories at your leisure with no pressure to like or comment. So have fun with it. There’s a lot on there!!

      5. Laura, that is terrific, about your veganism and your running. Jean was a vegetarian when we first met; she had been for many years. I soon converted and we have been pescatarian for quite some time. Plus, I am totally gob smacked by the number of books and poems you have written. How do you do that? I’m struggling even to start my first! That is my first novel; I have written three non-fiction books and self-published them.

      6. Thank you!! And congratulations on your books!! As for how I write so many novels and poems and publish 2-3 new books every year with various publishers, here is a link that might answer that question. I do lots of interviews every year, and I post the links on my website. The latest interview was translated into Italian, Albanian, and Romanian for literary magazines in those countries, so that’s no help to you. lol!! And a new one is coming out in English in May. But I did go back and find one that came out the end of last year in English you might find helpful. Hope you enjoy it!!

      7. Laura, I have just read your story as published on Indian Periodical. It was both inspiring and revealing. It said to me that I do not have the lifestyle that is vitally important. I’m too happy doing other things and Jeannie was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in December, 2015 unfortunately. But thank you for pointing me, and other readers, in that direction. As I said, it was most inspiring!

      8. You’re very welcome!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Yes, writing as a career is a consuming lifestyle and way of life. I write everywhere, every day. I recently spent 5 hours at the car repair place for a repair that should have taken an hour. Fortunately I brought a little notebook with me and ended up writing, editing, and finishing 3 new poems for my current book. No time wasted. lol!!! I’m so sorry to hear about your wife. Yes, spending time with her and taking care of her should be your top priority now. That’s the great thing about getting older. We are kinder to ourselves, less driven, and our priorities are in the right place. Have a wonderful night, dear friend!! 🩷

  2. The cruelty is staggering.

Don’t read on if terrible dog stories stick in your head like a cancer (like they do for me). Was watching a doco on N. Korea the other day and the Dear Leader instructed his starving populis to eat the “super meat” dog. He even suggested the meat tastes better when you beat the dog to death. Can you just imagine the horror for those poor creatures there?
