The Southern Ring Nebula

Just had to share this incredible vista with you!

The James Webb Space Telescope is amazing. Wikipedia have a long article on the telescope from which one reads (in part):

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is a space telescope specifically designed to conduct infrared astronomy. Its high-resolution and high-sensitivity instruments allow it to view objects too old, distant, or faint for the Hubble Space Telescope. This enables investigations across many fields of astronomy and cosmology, such as observation of the first stars and the formation of the first galaxies, and detailed atmospheric characterization of potentially habitable exoplanets.

But I want to share with you this video, please watch it now it is just a minute long:

Time to forget about our earthly challenges for just a short time.

And for those that want more here is the home page of the Webb Telescope.

  1. Yes it is an amazing video. Trillions of stars never before seen and that is just the visible Universe. By the way they are updating/streamlining the commenting feature causing problems for some people. I am having a hard time commenting on your website.

      1. First, I always have to login to Word-press before I can comment on your page even though I am already logged in. Secondly, while typing the comment the two WP reader windows popup that cover the entire page, and there’s no way to close them unless I reload the page. If I am unlucky I have to login one more time before I am allowed to reply. This happens on many sites that I visit but it is always the same ones. I would say about a 1/3 of those I frequent. I don’t think my website has that problem because no one has complained. I talked to a Happiness Engineer about this and he told me that they are currently in the process of streamlining the commenting feature and that there are certain bugs. He suggested we report when we see it so they know what is going on.

      2. Thanks Thomas, initially I thought that it was a problem with my blog site but it appears it is a general problem with WordPress. I am an Apple user and don’t think I have that issue with WP. Is there a solution on the WP site?
