Saturday sight test!

With grateful thanks to neighbour, Dordie, who sent this to me.

Test Your Brain

This is really cool.

EYE TEST

Count every “F” in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS…..

Finished?
HOW MANY ‘F’s?

Count them again.

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 — no joke..

READ IT AGAIN !

Really, go back and try to find the 6 ‘F’s before you scroll down.

The brain cannot process “OF”.

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS…..

Incredible or what?

Anyone who counts all 6 ‘F’s on the first go is a genius.
Three is normal , four is quite rare. Here they are.

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS…..

      1. I’ve spent the morning looking for straight quotation marks to change to curly, and missing ones to insert. Looking for ‘F’s wasn’t much different!
I could imagine getting four as they are all together but then read on and saw the others. But, like I say, I think I may have had an advantage. Not one to do when I’m brain-dead and word-blind though 😀

      2. Actually, in retrospect, the non ‘of’ F words (?!) are specifically positioned. Two at the beginning of words at the beginning of the text and the other at the beginning of a line with a break. The eye probably picks those out first.

  1. Good morning to you both.

It’s really just a bit of fun and my guess is that the unusual and deliberate layout of the words is part of the visual deception.

Anyway, didn’t mean to intrude! 😉

  2. A real genius, or say a fast reader, does not need the “OFs” and jumps around from key word TO key word to interpret text, especially when it looks infused with standard logic. Real genius looks for the meta-layers and meta-interpretations of everything. Such is the difference between “idiot-savants” and really intelligent people.

Thus, in normal reading OF normally intelligent people, there is NO attention to the details of text. The drawback is that method cannot be used with really new logic. As a mathematician, I am used to switch to the excruciating analytic mode when new logic is involved. Normal people are not. Hence the need for occasional emphasis, in my opinion.
