Apologies.

For the lack of a post this morning. It was just that by the time that Jean and I arrived back from our neighbours’ wonderful Thanksgiving dinner late yesterday afternoon, then fed the dogs and horses, it was early evening. Only for me to find there was no internet connection and an hour later I still hadn’t worked out why. So it was an early night. Then at 5am I awoke thinking I knew what the problem was.  It’s coming up to 5:30 and, as you can see, my hunch was correct. Next chapter of the book being published in under an hour!

  1. One day I’m going to get around to finishing my post about communication post-Internet. One of the threads I mean to try to address relates to the multiplicity of communications channels. Once upon a time we only ‘conversed’ using that archaic ‘speech’ thingy. Some time later, we developed the ability to ‘talk’ via written messages (that would take weeks to cross seas). Relatively soon afterwards came the telegraph, with the telephone hot on its heels. Even then, we were still limited to a small trio of channels: face to face conversations, aural ones via telephony, and written messages.

But then, along came the Innerwebz, and suddenly everything changed. Whereas before we only had a few choices of how to ‘speak’, now we have the proverbial thirteen (and then some) channels of shit to choose from. So alongside the tried and tested three, we now use work email to converse with one set of folks; home email for another set; facebook (maybe) for another crowd; then there’s twitter, and skype, and pinterest, umpteen fora, and this, and that, and the other… and of course WordPress…

… all of which is a long-winded way of saying “what on Earth are you apologising for?” 🙂

    1. I don’t know why? Just seemed I was letting down so many wonderful readers and followers. But it was worth it to read your comment above – just loved it; I laughed aloud!
