Brandy has been found

Found drowned yesterday morning.

I went out yesterday morning to walk to the front gate; it is a quarter mile. I decided to take my Nikon with me.

Halfway between the bridge over Bummer Creek and our gate, I wondered if the tiny stream was flowing down that comes from the other side of the Hugo road. Imagine my surprise when I found a dead Brandy.

It was such a shock. I ached with pain and it was a while before I could function again.

However having the Nikon with me I was able to take a few photographs.

More on Sunday.

    1. I guess my heart was partly broken some 48 hours after Brandy first disappeared. Then yesterday I had no choice but to retrieve him with the tractor and that got in the way of my pain. However your reaction brings you so close to us!

  1. I can’t tell you how sorry I am that poor Brandy drowned and that you had to find her that way. This has been a heartbreaking week for me as well. My sister called to tell me she lost her sweet Lucille. It’s just hard. They are so precious and penetrate the heart so deeply. Sending hugs to you and Jeannie.

    1. Thank you very much, Marlene. Plus, our hugs go out to your sister as well. The amazing thing is that our two remaining dogs, Oliver and Cleo, truly sense the loss of Brandy and react in a number of ‘doggy’ ways especially involving random acts of each of them coming up to Jean and me and being very affectionate.

    1. But at least, dear Sue, we now know what happened to him. I’m sure that when he wandered off, back on the 29th January (at 5:30 am PST), he knew he was going to die. For otherwise he wouldn’t have gone out and, furthermore, he would not have gone so far.

  2. Paul, I am so sorry. That is so sad. My heart hurts for you. If any consolation, you found Brandy and can bring him home for burial. Even if he did wander off to die, as we know old dogs do, it is a shock if and when we find them. 😢 Christine

    1. Christine, you have said it as it is. We have a cremation arranged for tomorrow (see tomorrow’s post) and then he will be one more dog that will end up in a small box on our window ledge.

      1. A lasting way to remember your beloved dogs. We have photo tiles stuck on walls in the house. Three so far. Almost three years old, Maddie & Max still here! 🙏🎶💘

    1. Marina, yes it was a shock for me and then later for Jeannie when I said that I had found Brandy. He was a giant of a dog and very gentle with it; we loved him so much.
