The Duke of dogs

The widely reported story of a dog saving the life of a baby.

Although this story came into prominence a week ago, this is the first opportunity for inserting it on Learning from Dogs.  That doesn’t detract one little bit from the power of the tale, so watch this video!

  1. This just proves what I have been telling people for years Dog have the capacities to think and react on there own. I am sure that no one ever thought of teach this dog to do this. He saw a problem rationalized a solution and proceed to follow through by waking the people that he new would be able to help. Dogs are amazing and intelligent as well as being completed loyal and loving unconditionally.

    1. I agree Roger; this is a story that reveals the truth of much of what Paul keeps telling me (and I therefore apologise for being sceptical).

    1. Thanks Mag. Paul did warn readers he would be offline for a while (from last Monday for about 10 days) and, therefore, mainly re-posting old stuff most readers will not have seen before. I had a call from him last night (UK time) so he now has the telephone line connected but the Internet is via satellite and will be a few more days. All residents (i.e. bipedal and quadrupeds) arrived safely but two dogs have since gone missing. However, Paul and Jean are still hopeful they can and will be found (although the low human population density does not help).

  3. This is an amazing story! Love how the dog is the hero and helping the family. Way to bring up a great story about a dog, it is refreshing to hear stories like this! I know my dog has helped me in some situations and I always take how they react into consideration of the situation.
