Ageing brains.

A postscript to yesterday’s post.

There was a comment left on yesterday’s post that seemed a delightful reason to stay with the topic; more or less!  This was the comment left by Tony.

“at the age of 70, I am already noticing the creeping onset of reduced verbal IQ, cognitive decline, and worry about the onset of dementia….”

Paul, I am 75 and lost an aunt to Alzheimer’s and a mother to dementia. I consider myself to also be at risk. There seems no defense, yet, against Alzheimer’s, but cardiovascular exercise is absolutely one against dementia. Cardio sends oxygen molecules to the brain which actually create new neurotransmitters. Check out my Page – Important Facts About Your Brain (and Exercise Benefits).

Nine days ago, dear friend Bob Derham from my UK days, emailed me the following (in turn, it had been sent on to Bob):

Yet another Saturday smile

You will love this!

I came across the following video as a result of my brother-in-law, Warwick Hamilton, posting it on his Facebook page. In turn, it had been published by Jason Fechner on his FB page, describing it:

Your Tuesday Moment of Zen — Diesel, the English Bulldog who has found a new toy… and won’t let go! 🙂

Saturday smile

Just love some of the stuff that gets shared on social media sites!

My son, Alex, shared this cartoon that, in turn, had been presented on Amanda Charlotte’s Facebook page.

It seems very appropriate for this first week of September.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Playing in the rain

Two reasons to be joyful!

Our local weather reporting site is saying this:

[Friday] Tonight

Rain after 11pm. Areas of smoke before 11pm. Low around 60. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Saturday

Rain likely before 11am, then a slight chance of showers after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. West wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

If that rain arrives it will break a spell of fifty days since we last had rain. So fingers, and toes, very tightly crossed.

The second reason to be joyful is demonstrated in the following video sent to me by Chris Snuggs.

Enjoy, and wherever you are have a wonderful wet weekend!

Puppy and cat!

Pixel, 10-week-old french bulldog, tries to reclaim bed from cat.

Big thanks to Chris Snuggs for sending me the links to these two videos.

10-week-old french bulldog Pixel finally got his revenge on the cat, who keeps stealing his bed, even though she has her own. Fun fact: he drags the bed and puts it back in his corner, where he always sleeps.

Saturday smile

Have a great weekend.

French police

This actually happened to an Englishman in France who was totally drunk.

oooo

A French policeman stops the Englishman’s car and asks if he has been drinking.

With great difficulty, the Englishman admits that he has been drinking all day, that his daughter got married that morning, and that he drank champagne and a few bottles of wine at the reception, and many single malt scotches thereafter.

Quite upset, the policeman proceeds to alcohol-test (breath test) the Englishman and verifies that he is indeed totally sloshed.

He asks the Englishman if he knows why, under French Law, he is going to be arrested?

The Englishman answers, with a hint of humour in his voice, “No sir, I do not!”

He then continues, “But while we’re asking questions, do you realize that this is a British car and that my wife is driving . . . . . on the other side?”

oooo

So, whatever side of the road you drive on, you all stay safe out there!

The bond between us and our dogs.

Here’s a wonderful tale of Igor the bulldog and his family.

As seen on Mother Nature Network:

Igor the bulldog had never spent a day without his family. From day one, he has been loved, doted on, and the center of the family’s attention. So when the family planned a vacation to a place where Igor couldn’t go, there was a lot of guilt and worry over how he would do on his own.

That’s when Igor’s dad came up with an amazing plan. While Igor would have to go into a kennel, it wasn’t going to be just any kennel. The plan was kept as a surprise for both Igor and the rest of the family, until it was time to leave. And what a surprise it was!

Friends, treats, bones and a home away from home is everything a dog could want! It also probably helped the family feel a bit better about leaving him behind. It’s not often people go to such amazing lengths to make sure their dog is comfortable!

Igor’s family came back from vacation and brought him back to the real version of home, but we’re pretty sure Igor won’t mind the next time they decide to head off without him!

Now enjoy the video:

Just had to be shared with you!
