What We Still Don’t Know?

Are we truly alone?

On the 5th January, I presented a piece, called Life and the Cosmos, that was based on a deeply interesting lecture given by Britain’s Lord Martin Rees at the University of Melbourne’s Medical School in 2010.  I wrote that I was going to pick up on some of the points made by Lord Rees in that lecture and I do so starting today.

On the website Top Documentary Films there is a collection of three films, originally shown on Channel 4 television in the UK, under the broad banner of What We Still Don’t Know?  They make deeply fascinating viewing.  Luckily they appear to be available on YouTube as well, thus can be included directly in this Post.  However, if you have any problems with the YouTube versions then click here.

So here is the first programme, Are We Alone?

Are we alone? Sir Martin explores the possibility that life exists on planets beyond our own. He unveils an unsettling scientific debate that has startling consequences for us Earthlings. Do you believe in aliens? Why are we here? Everything you thought you knew about the universe is wrong. It’s made of atoms, right? Wrong. Atoms only account for a measly 15% of everything that exists. The mass of the universe consists of something so mysterious and elusive that it has been dubbed ‘dark matter’. Are we real? There is a fundamental chasm in our understanding of ourselves, the universe, and everything. To solve this, Sir Martin takes us on a mind-boggling journey through multiple universes to post-biological life. On the way we learn of the disturbing possibility that we could be the product of someone else’s experiment.

The second programme Why Are We Here? will be presented on Learning from Dogs on Thursday.

  1. “Are we alone?”.. I know we are not.. this knowing has been with me from a child.. We are far more than we have been taught, we have more capabilities than we think.. We are all vibration.. Energy.. that same energy runs throughout the cosmos…. Have we been visited by Aliens?.. Yes. I am certain of it..
I havent as yet watched these 4 vids, but I will be back later in the week when Ive more time to view them.. I think Paul that if people really understood our True History and that which has been kept secret.. It would make us all appear Alien.. for History Books would need to be rewritten if Truth were told.
This vast Universe is I think Teaming with Life.. It may not all be as the Human Form, or visible to the eye of our Dimension but there is More things in heaven and earth than Mankind is aware of that I am certain of..

I once read a book in the early 90’s I obviously at that time wasn’t ready to hear its contents as I dismissed its pages as far-out rubbish..Scoffing at the ideas within the pages. The Title was called The Experiment is Over by Paul G Lowe.. Years later I was channelling insights myself.. We are indeed an experiment.. Ego was never meant to take control as it has become our ruler of greed in this material experience we have undertaken to experience within this Dense Matter called Earth.. But once you open your mind to all possibilities and start to view the world outside the pages of History books, and see that many things within this world are not explainable as Archaeology too has much to learn and discover that our origins date back much further.. And we were far more intelligent…

Sorry Paul.. I have gone on.. Are we alone?? NO… 🙂

  2. The numbers I saw were 4% conventional matter, and the rest dark. Mostly Dark Energy, with some Dark Matter.
There are no dominant theories of what the Darkness is made of.
CERN should be able to find stuff below its energy reach. So far, nothing.

The big question is how many planets can harbor advanced (=oxygen breathing) life. No inkling of that. There are plenty of planets out there, all hostile to life. So far.

My hunch is that most planets in the hospitable zone, when found, will be bereft of advanced life, although primitive life may be quite frequent. Reason? Too many miracles at work for billions of years in the solar system.

  3. Sorry to react slowly Paul, I have been too busy (mostly thinking). The Higgs Boson scheme has nothing to do with Dark Matter, which is an apparently observed astronomical phenomenon. (I say “apparently” because observations depend up “Newtonian” gravitation, which we are not sure is valid at galactic cluster scale, and fails beyond that…) More details on this later.

I believe that it is more likely the weird Higgs declaration from CERN before shutting down LHC in December, had more to do with LOVE of MONEY… Hum, I mean ongoing financing of various CERN activities… I think it’s likely they have nothing. Which is already something, come to think of it…

    1. Patrice, your reply much appreciate here and on Part 2. Must come back at you and say that ‘thinking’ could never be described as ‘too busy’. Especially for one such as yourself that puts thinking to such good use! P.
