I blamed it on the dog

All will be made clear if you go here.

I blamed it on the dog

He lay there, on the hard concrete, motionless, his eyes linked to mine. Linking our two very different species in a bond that defied rational description. A bond across not only two radically different creatures but across the tens of thousands of years since species dog embraced species homo sapiens, that is the hunter-gatherer version.

Such history of intimate co-operation shining out from those quiet, wise, brown eyes. Impossible not to sense the linking of souls as each gazed into the eyes of the other. The arm of the man reached behind, found the camera, and captured forever this magic.

Poetry in motion in the form of the Eagle Owl

A gentle change from yesterday’s topic!

My post yesterday generated quite a lot of heat so here’s a respite.

I saw the following video on Naked Capitalism but was sure that previously I had included it on Learning from Dogs.  So if you have seen it before, apologies, and if not, enjoy.  Here’s a comment left on YouTube to give you a flavour.

It’s so moving to see how everything we humans think we know about flight and took so long to learn completely and flawlessly executed by such a majestic bird as this owl. Note the fact that the head never moves, only the body. Note the adjustments made in each wingstroke, then compare the end of the flight to what a pilot must do to facilitate a landing. Humans deploy the plane’s flaps; the owl does everything with the subtlest of adjustments. Absolutely gorgeous!

Just a beautiful photograph

Pray for our planet this year!

This was emailed to me a couple of weeks ago.  Have no background information as to where the photograph was taken and, indeed, what type of bird it is!  But, nonetheless, just a beautiful reminder of the wonderfully, precious planet that we all, and I mean all, live on.

Nature in all her glory.
