Why do I start this Post in this fashion?
Simple! Discovering the truth is always the challenge.
But before I go any further, I want to say thanks to my son who drew my attention to the video that is linked to in the next paragraph. (As a professional pilot he clearly takes a more than casual interest in the weather).
Here’s a link to that video by Joe Bastadi about the big changes to the planet’s weather. The video is summarised thus, “Temperature is a measure of kinetic energy, and the dirty little secret of the whole AGW debate is that total kinteic energy of the Earth over the longer term is not changing, but is cyclical.”
Joe is a professionally trained forecaster (Penn State University) but also a controversial figure. He is a member of the AccuWeather team.
Anyway, do watch that video – the link is here. Bottom line is that global weather patterns and longer-term trends are hugely driven by the earth’s natural rhythms and the influence of mankind is minimal in comparison.

The essence in finding the truth is figuring out which factors in the torrent of verbiage and smoke screen are relevant and ignoring the rest.
In the case of AGW all this palaver about heating, cooling, hurricanes, droughts arctic ice melting is the smokescreen and verbiage.
The question is whether the global warming or whatever we are having right now, is anthropogenic-or are we causing it.
If we are NOT causing it, we can 1. Forget our guilt for being wealthy. 2. Enjoy the sun shine while it lasts. 3. Sleep easy.
Let me tell you a little secret. If scientists measure .05 C global warming increase in the last 100 years, do you know what that proves?
Well it proves that there was .05 C Global warming increase over the last 100 years.
In otherwords arguing about data is a waste of time, but of course it is what we see all the time.
What we need is proof of the causation of this warming.
Another warning. When I studied statistics at university, we were belaboured with the fact that CORRELATIONS never constitute PROOF of anything. At very best they may possibly suggest an area for investigation.
What are we told day in and day out? CO2 concentration is rising and it is causing the world to heat!
This is a correlation trying to be masqueraded as proof, ie. another bit of smokescreen and verbiage.
And in fact there is not even a correlation, but that is another issue. Although it is a neccesary condition that a causation must correlate, the opposite is not true.
What we need to look at is causation or proof of the “Anthropogenic CO2 causes Global Warming” hypothesis. If this is not proven then AGW is baloney.
In actual fact, beyond proving that CO2 has greenhouse properties in the laboratory, which once again proves that in the laboratory CO2 has greenhouse properties, there is no proof of CO2 actually effecting the complicated and only partially understood systems present in our atmosphere etc.
So where should we look?
What if the world has warmed up before when there was little or no anthropogenic CO2 and lower CO2 concentrations than today?
Well that is easily shown, because there have been such warmings recent enough to be recorded in human history which also appear in archaeological findings as well as written histories.
So the world heats up regularly? Surely we need to question why we should blame it on CO2 this time round?
And there is the question that must be answered.
Can I humbly suggest that you visit my blog where this is laid out in terms that anyone can understand.
Incidently if you ask a Global Warming supporter for proof of the “Anthropogenic CO2 Cause Global Warming” hypothesis you will probably get an immediate ad hominem attack. I wonder why that is?
