Shame on you, President Obama

President Obama’s lack of grace.

Shame on you, President Obama.

Presidents Obama and Bush

To publicly comment on the singular importance of the Iraqi elections without crediting President Bush for having the courage and fortitude to free those people from a tyrannical leader who threatened the security of the free world – shameful.

Of course, you also failed to acknowledge President Bush’s role in enabling the historic Afghanistan elections of 2009. I just hoped you would have matured a little since then.

The media is not doing much better on this issue.  But then we expect less of our media than our President.

  1. I usually really like the well-balanced and insightful articles we have on this website, but this is just very weak politically-biased ranting. Unimpressed.

  2. So glad you usually like the articles the team produces! That is a real compliment to a group as diverse as we are.

I (obviously) don’t agree that mine is a weak comment, however, because of the central importance of the Iraqi issue to President Bush’s legacy and to President Obama’s public posture in his campaign and now is his governing.

I am very disappointed that our President continues to take a “we” versus “them” approach in what he says and does, but this is one issue where common decency and intellectual logic cries out for President Obama to be Presidential and the bigger man: the beginning of a free democratic society in the center of the Middle East.

And it is most certainly not biased. President Obama is the one who erected this as a pivotal distinguishing political issue in his campaign and in his Presidency.

    Thanks again for your comment.

  3. Barack Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” provides a catchy title. It has an idea of bravery mixed confidently. There is nothing Pollyanna regarding it. I would possibly not support every part he says, but he’s our president, as well as for me, he inspires belief. Which can do more for a country than any number of backroom deals. Hope gives us energy, and energy sustains us through trying times. Boy, we’ve had them. I’m from West Texas, and I did not vote for Bush. When McCain ran against Obama, I was a citizen of Arizona, but I gave audacious hope a chance. The fight for progress and laying the foundations of prosperity isn’t over. I’ve seen the quips of those that don’t believe Obama is capable of it. But step back a moment. Would anyone have most of us fail simply to tarnish the star of an incumbent for whom they didn’t vote? Attempting to keep our priorities straight, let’s work together with our president and build our future.
