What a strange world we live in!

Tony Blair is said to be brokering a deal to open Tesco supermarkets in the Middle East.

(For those unfamiliar with the name Tesco, it is one of Britain’s largest grocery stores, probably on a par with Walmart.  It is a very major player in retailing.)

Yes, I’ve always thought that if I were Peace Envoy to the Middle East, storm centre and nuclear flashpoint of a troubled world, I’d try to do a bit of wheeler-dealing on the side for the odd £1 million ($1.63m) or so.

Perhaps it’s all part of a master plan: swamp the Middle East with Tesco’ses so that people are BOTH too well fed at reasonable price (you can debate this later!!!!) AND too busy shopping to reach for their Kalashnikovs ….

PS This will not go down well with Sarky (Nicolas Sarkozy, the French President) and Murky (German Chancellor Angela Merkel) …… one can just see the headlines:
