A bit of a heads-up

A vacation is coming up!

Now it’s still two weeks away but on the 23rd September we are going away until the 8th October.

We are driving to Utah specifically to see the slot canyons in Capital Reef National Park, and elsewhere.

The story behind this was quite a few months ago I was reading on Ugly Hedgehog about these canyons and said to Jeannie that we really should try and go there before we get too old.

As it happened, Jana could babysit the house and dogs, cats and horses on the dates that I mentioned earlier on.

We are taking just one dog with us. We will take Brandy because he adores being taken for a drive and he has the habit of going for a walkabout when at home and we thought it wasn’t fair on Jana.

So it’s all uncertain as to what I shall do with the blog. Whether I will have time to use old posts, or leave it alone completely, or from time to time go online and leave a brief post.

Things may become clearer nearer the time.

But it seemed like a good idea to give your a heads-up!

Stunning isn’t the half of it!

      1. I am! Unfortunately when I was there, my arm was in a sling so I couldn’t enjoy hiking. My plan is to go back & take full advantage of the place!

    1. Irene, it is in large part a photographic trip. We’re taking my Nikon D750 with us and I have every intention to take a great deal of photos and the best will be surely published in this place.

    1. I’ve just read that post. It’s terrific and very informative and it will be an honor to republish. Colette, yes, I’m going to do just that. Have a series of posts, both of dogs and not, that I shall schedule for the period we are away. Thank you for the link.

      1. It’s not my blog, but yes, it is a great piece from Bryony. She is studying for her Masters degree in animal behaviour studies. I think her work is a great addition. 😊

  2. Love Utah! I look forward to seeing pictures of your travels! Capitol Reef is such a special place, in fact is tied with Mt. Rainier as my favorite park so far (of the 21 I’ve visited). I’m so sorry you ultimately weren’t able to take Brandy for the full trip, but – having recently experienced traveling some southwestern parks with my dog – it isn’t easy to visit most of the national parks with a pup along. Also, the sun and heat can be tricky!

    1. I’ve been across to your place and just adore your photographs. Yes, it was better without Brandy; no question.

We are fairly limited nowadays in the amount of hiking we can do but that doesn’t stop us from admiring the views, so to speak.

      1. Thanks for the compliment, Paul. I take far too many photos, and sharing them allows me relive my travels and (hopefully) to introduce new places to others. One doesn’t have to put foot to trail in order to enjoy nature’s wonders. There are so many spectacular scenic drives in our big country, enough to fill a lifetime of wandering 🙂

      2. I am truly lazy when it comes to digital photography, or rather it’s just that I like to be able to put my “camera” in my pocket, haha! Most of my images were taken with my iPhone 6s, though occasionally I will pull out our Nikon D3100 DSLR. We just edit our digital photos with Apple’s proprietary post-processing software, which has come a long way.

My husband and I really like film photography, so some of my blog posts include film pictures taken in the past few years. We have 8-10 film cameras, but we primarily shoot with our 70’s era NikonF2 SLR and our 80’s era NikonL35 point-and-shoot. I don’t ever edit the film (negative) scans. For us, part of the fun of shooting film is “what you see is what you get”. 🙂
