And that video appeal by Greta Thunberg

You may have already seen this because it was very widely shown.

In the tail end of Deep Adaptation there is reference to Greta’s video because it was so powerful. Young Greta Thunberg is a 16-year-old person who passionately wants this world to change and to change soon.

Here’s the piece that accompanied that video:

In this passionate call to action, 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg explains why, in August 2018, she walked out of school and organized a strike to raise awareness of global warming, protesting outside the Swedish parliament and grabbing the world’s attention. “The climate crisis has already been solved. We already have all the facts and solutions,” Thunberg says. “All we have to do is to wake up and change.”

And here’s the video:

Well said, Greta, well said indeed.

Back to dogs tomorrow!

  1. Well said indeed, I remember way back in 1992 when Severn Cullis-Suzuki’s spoke to the UN Council Nothing changed then, and nothing is going to change in politics. Greta is right we need to Wake Up, and CHANGE..
Great share and wonderful to be back in WP again.

    1. Sue, Jean and I have just watched that video. It brought us to tears. Not only because of the clear message but also because it was it was over 25 years ago and, in essence, we have done nothing! Indeed, the leader of the USA dismisses it!

It’s difficult at times to see a positive ending!

      Help!

      1. Yes we have done nothing, I came across another video while looking, maybe the reason is nothing is being done is because of what is known at a deeper level within the scientific community. I don’t know what to think any more Paul. except we are living through these times of changes .. When I find the video link again I will share it.. Its about thirty minutes in length, but shows geological evidence of climate warming and cooling and warming and cooling with highs of CO2 relevant to todays, But if that is all natural, then we have to ask ourselves to what extent our pollution Now is going to add to those levels and what comes after the high levels of warmth, if we then consider mini ice ages came after it?? So who is right? One thing for sure is that the globe is Warming! Weather patterns are altering and species are becoming extinct and WE are contributing to the pollution..
While we recycle, and save energy, like both Greta and that other young lady who is now a well known adult still campaigning I think, Our grandchildren’s generation is going to be the ones who suffer and pick up the pieces if there is any thing left to pick up!.
I will search for the video link Paul and see what you have to say about it. I am not saying its right or wrong.. But it makes you think, why our governments are not concerned and doing more?
Be back when I dig it out. 😀

    1. We will watch it later; that’s for sure. But on the broader topic, I just don’t have a clue. Essentially, we need the Western nations to join together and come up with a plan. And soon! Will it happen? Not for another few years at least. If at all. If I was a younger man I would very actively get involved. But here I am in the autumn of my life with my darling Jeannie suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. So all I can do is to leave comments such as this one and trust that others will take up the fight soon; very soon!

      1. Likewise Paul my typing comments and signing petitions etc is about all I can do except be well aware of ways in which to conserve energy and our carbon footprints. While looking to the environment and protection of Nature’s wild life etc..
Have a good weekend Paul. and Love to Jean. ❤

      2. Back home again! Yes, all we can do is to share this stuff with like-minded individuals, try not to get too downhearted, and lead our lives as much as possible in harmony with the natural world!

  2. I was trying to find the link address to post it on my facebook pages. Those that read here are aware but we still don’t know how to proceed. Affording an electric car is out of the question as their prices are staggering. I drive little and my daughter uses public transit 98% of the time. It’s not enough. It has to reach the heart and mind of those profiting from continuing this cycle. I can’t tell you how distraught I get just thinking about what’s coming. There is no way to stop the profiteers. This was a very good talk and I’m impressed with this young person. She’s right. How do we send this link to the man that pulled us out of the Paris agreement?

    1. We do very few miles a year; fewer than 5,000. And one of our cars is a Honda FIT. (The other is a GMC pickup just used to collect hay for the horses and take stuff to the tip.) I share your deep concerns about so many things, Marlene.
