While I know we have a tendency to anthropomorphise animal behaviour, one can genuinely see the beautiful connection to sentience in all of these captured moments.
I have lost some friends recently over my Vegan lifestyle and attitude to animal cruelty. Everyone of our farm animals are sentient and capable of moments like these when rescued to sanctuaries.
The misery we see when they are in a factory farm setting (which Incidentally incorporates most meat sources in the US), is so heartbreaking it makes your soul ache and your body cry.
Life is a wonderful gift. Find the people that see beauty and love in all our life forms. The rest of so called ‘humanity’ will convince you that we need to hurt each other.
Marg, I know plenty of people who think that they will keep eating meat, simply because they like it. ‘Conditioning’ is very hard to change. But there are strides every day that improve plant protein meat substitutes to the point that meat eaters cannot tell the difference. While I don’t bother with them, preferring whole foods, ‘The Beyond Meat Burger’ put on the same shelves as regular meat burgers, are starting to outsell their meat counterparts. The taste is so good that many people cannot tell that they have been made from texturised soy protein and other whole plant food ingredients, including beetroot juice (to mimick blood oozing from the cooked burger).
Meat is cruel, so for the absolute ‘must have meat’ people, labs will grow muscle tissue for consumption so no sentience of animals is involved. The days of animal slavery are coming to an end. It will only take the next generation of adults (the biggest growing Vegan demographic), to end it. 😊
Love the pix! The 2 foxes is a favorite.

I don’t have a farm Paul… Merely pointing out how farm animal behaviour changes when sanctuaries rescue them. 😊
