On “flip sides”

The theme of “Flip sides” explores the two different sides of relationships. A series of posts explores aspects of this topic.

On the one hand … but on the other hand!

There are many examples of asymmetric relationships in which the parties to the relationship have quite different, although complementary roles.

Some relationships are symmetrical, such as being fellow members of a group, or being friends, or sharing something. However, many others, perhaps the majority of relationships are asymmetric, for example: you are sending/giving/transmitting, I am receiving.

For me (John Lewis), there was a big BFO* when I was providing training in the world of software development, so the first in the series is from that field and others are intended to follow.

Topics

Some intended posts are:

  • Learning – training
  • Consuming – providing
  • Buying – selling

* BFO: “Blinding Flash of the Obvious”, thanks for David Allen of GTD fame for that label
