Mach Loop, North Wales, Great Britain

High speed military aircraft at low level – all in a day’s work.

Most private pilots love to watch the professionals at work, whether it’s in the cockpit of an airliner or fast military jets.

Does this not get the blood stirring?

This Low fly area is designated with a call sign LFA7 or as more commonly known as the Mach Loop.  It is a fairly wild part of North Wales in Britain.  Any why ‘Mach’?  Not because of the speed that they fly as one might guess but because the Loop gets its name from the Welsh town of Machynlleth – don’t ask anyone who isn’t Welsh to pronounce it!

Some great web sites here and here. (The latter explaining the UK Low Fly System.)
